I was born and raised in Evansville, IN, where I currently reside. I primarily consider myself a portrait artist, but I do enjoy doing quicker and looser abstractions as well.
I am almost completely self-taught. I have been fortunate to surround myself with a plethora of talented people. Having the influence of this network of friends has shaped me into the artist I am today.
I worked for three years as a professional tattoo artist, which disciplined me create smooth lines and be attentive to small details.
I now work primarily in acrylic and watercolor. My watercolors are loose and emotionally charged, often incorporating splattered textures and quick lines. I am often more meticulous when working in acrylic or colored pencil. Working slower gives me the opportunity to make sure I capture the finest details in the image I am creating.
My portrait style is highly influenced by classical realism. I work in many thin layers to create contrast and multi-dimensional tones, giving my paintings a rich, lifelike feel.
